Aboitiz InfraCapital airports served 16.17 million passengers in 2025

Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. said it recorded 16.17 million passenger arrivals across its airport portfolio in 2025, buoyed by rising demand for air travel in the Visayas and Northern Mindanao regions.

The infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group reported that its flagship Mactan-Cebu International Airport handled 11.6 million passengers, a nearly 3-percent increase from 11.3 million in 2024.

The total also included 2.35 million passengers at Laguindingan International Airport and 2.22 million at Bohol-Panglao International Airport.

Laguindingan and Bohol-Panglao airports logged 1.6 million and 1.07 million passengers respectively during the specific periods following their handovers to the company in April and June 2025.

Mactan-Cebu remains the busiest airport in the Philippines outside Metro Manila, while the Misamis Oriental and Bohol gateways rank as the sixth- and ninth-busiest in the country.

Aboitiz InfraCapital vice president and head of airports Rafael Aboitiz said 2025 was a landmark year for the company as it expanded connectivity for domestic and international travelers.

He said passengers now have easier access to key destinations across Cebu, Bohol and Northern Mindanao.

The record volume was achieved despite regional disruptions in 2025, including a 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Bogo City, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Davao Oriental and two typhoons that impacted Western Visayas.

Mactan-Cebu International Airport introduced several exclusive routes during the year, including direct flights to Siquijor via Sunlight Air and San Vicente via Cebu Pacific.

The airport also launched connectivity initiatives such as CEB Connects for air-to-air transfers, CEB+ for air-to-sea links and CEB Balik to serve overseas Filipino workers.

The Cebu hub hosts 20 airlines serving 13 international routes, providing an alternative for Mindanao travelers heading abroad via Laguindingan.

Aboitiz InfraCapital, which marked its 10th anniversary in 2025, operates across water, transport and digital infrastructure sectors.

Its water division includes Apo Agua Infrastructura Inc in Davao City and a stake in Balibago Waterworks System Inc, while its digital arm, Unity Digital Infrastructure Inc, operates telecommunication towers in partnership with Partners Group.
