PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) said they now have over 100 certified energy managers (CEM) comprised of their network operations and facilities management personnel, reinforcing their commitment to operational resource efficiency and compliance with environmental management regulations.
The certification initiative was undertaken with the Meralco Power Academy and reinforces the group’s adherence to the Department of Energy (DOE) Circular No. DC 2023-12-0036, which mandates that designated establishments (DE) consuming at least 50,001 kWh annually implement an energy management system (EMS) and submit regular energy reports.
PLDT and Smart identified over 1,000 sites meeting the DOE’s energy consumption threshold as of end-December 2024. To strengthen compliance with the DOE circular, the group prepared its network and facilities management teams for CEM training and certification, equipping them with the skills needed to manage and optimize energy use across operations.
