The Department of Energy (DOE) said it endorsed 12 energy projects for system impact study to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) in February 2025.
“In February 2025, the DOE issued 12 SIS endorsements, which are composed of three amendments and nine new applications,” the DOE said.
The SIS will determine the capacity of the power grid to accommodate additional capacities and identify necessary improvements needed such as transmission lines, transformers or substations
The DOE endorsed eight projects of Airstream Renewables Corp., including the 100-megawatt Mauban offshore wind farm in Mauban, Quezon province; the 100-MW Capalonga offshore wind farm in Camarines Norte; the 100-MW Mariveles Offshore Wind Farm in Bataan; the 100-MW Mercedes Offshore Wind Farm in Camarines Norte; the 100-MW Dumaguete Offshore Wind Farm in Negros Oriental; the 60-MW Sambong Onshore Wind Farm in Nasugbu, Batangas; the 300-MW Sebaste Offshore Wind Farm in Antique and Aklan; and the 30-MW Dapdap East Wind Farm in Batangas.
It also endorsed the 40-MW battery energy storage system project of SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet Inc. in Benguet; Citicore Wind Aklan Inc.’s 45-MW Camarines Sur wind project; Lohas and Soul Lighting Inc.’s 68-MW Jasaan Solar Power Project in Misamis Oriental; and Basic Energy Corp.’s 300-MW Panay Wind Power Project in Antique.
The DOE has so far endorsed 24 projects to the NGCP for grid impact study as of February 2025. The agency continues to woo investments in the generation sector to boost energy security.
