Philippine Airlines (PAL) said Monday it will resume thrice-weekly nonstop flights to Beijing Capital International Airport starting March 30, 2025.
“We are honored to serve the capital city of the People’s Republic of China, the diplomatic heart of the world’s second largest economy, as our contribution to strengthening air links to the Chinese mainland,” said PAL president and chief operating officer Capt. Stanley Ng.
“We believe that the Manila-Beijing service will help boost tourism, enhance trade and deepen the friendly ties between the Filipino and Chinese people,” he said.
The Philippine flag carrier will now have the widest network of flights from the Philippines to four cities in Mainland China. In addition to Beijing, PAL operates daily flights each to Shanghai (Pudong), Xiamen and Quanzhou (Jinjiang) from Manila.
For the nonstop flights between Manila and Beijing, PAL will deploy Airbus A321 aircraft offering both business class and economy services, with a capacity of 168 to 199 seats.
Travelers from Beijing can connect via Manila to PAL’s extensive domestic and regional route network, enabling them to fly conveniently to top Philippine destinations such as Cebu, Davao, Boracay and Palawan or beyond to PAL destinations in Southeast Asia, Australia and North America.
PAL earlier reported a net income of $135 million in the first nine months of 2024, down from $348 million in the same period in 2023.
PAL’s revenue amounted to $2.3 billion, a reduction of 4 percent compared to the same period in 2023 as significant industry capacity growth impacted yields.
Capital expenditures increased to $263 million, with a substantial portion dedicated to major maintenance requirements of its aircraft and engines and enhancements in the cabin to reinforce operational integrity and ensure a well differentiated quality service for its customers. The capex also includes pre-delivery payments for the A350-1000s on order.
