SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP), a joint venture between Norwegian firm Scatec and Aboitiz Power Corp., signed construction agreements for the expansion of its battery energy storage system (BESS) facility co-located at the Magat hydroelectric power plant in Ramon, Isabela.
SNAP formalized the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreements with GEDI China Energy for the development of the 16-megawatt (MW) Magat BESS Phase 2 on Dec. 19, 2024.
“We are committed to providing innovative and sustainable energy solutions,” SNAP Group president and chief executive Joseph Yu said.
“The Magat BESS expansion underscores SNAP Group’s mission to lead in the renewable energy space and accelerate the country’s transition to a more sustainable energy future,” he said.
GEDI, an international engineering company, is a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group.
SNAP said the expansion builds on the 24-MW Magat BESS Phase 1, which began commercial operation in January 2024, marking a key milestone in SNAP’s growth targets.
