Clark Development Corp. (CDC) registered “Made in Clark Philippines” certification mark with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), highlighting Clark Freeport’s reputation as a hub for quality and excellence in global markets.
CDC president and chief executive Agnes Devanadera received the certificate of registration from IPOPHL on Nov. 15, 2024 during a ceremony at McKinley Hill Town Center in Taguig City.
Devanadera highlighted the importance of maintaining rigorous quality standards for products carrying the certification.
“When you are given the brand of ‘Made in Clark Philippines,’ we must ensure that the quality is exceptional. This mark stands for excellence, elevating not just Clark but the entire Philippines,” she said.
Registered under IPOPHL’s 2023 Revised Trademark Regulations, the certification, good for the next ten years, guarantees the authenticity and quality of products manufactured within Clark Freeport.
Devanadera said the certification coincided with Clark’s robust export performance, which reached $5.1 billion in 2023, or 9 percent higher than the previous year’s.
CDC plans to grant the “Made in Clark Philippines” mark to locators that manufacture products within the Freeport zone.
With over 1,155 companies spanning industries like aviation, tourism, and manufacturing, the initiative aims to showcase the quality and global competitiveness of Clark-produced goods.
Unlike regular trademarks, certification marks ensure that products meet specific standards, including geographic origin and manufacturing quality.
IPOPHL said these marks could be used by multiple businesses that adhere to the certifying body’s criteria, distinguishing them from standard trademarks exclusive to a single entity.
