Alsons sees higher power demand

Alsons Consolidated Resources Corp. is preparing for an increase in power demand in Mindanao and mitigate any shortage in the next four to five years, a top executive said Monday.

“Alsons Power is helping unlock the vast potential of Mindanao, fueling communities, and driving sustainable economic growth while prioritizing environmental stewardship,” Alsons Power chief executive Antonio Miguel Alcantara said at the 33rd Mindanao Business Conference (MinBizCon).

Alcantara outlined Alsons’ strategy to expand and diversify its energy portfolio to help meet this expected surge in power demand.

“We’re committed to developing new power plants with a strong focus on renewable energy while optimizing our existing conventional power assets,” he said.

Alsons has a capacity of over 460 megawatts, serving more than eight million people across Mindanao.
