Filipino franchises booked P750 million worth of agreements in a recent trade exposition in Australia.

Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) chairman Sherill Quintana said six Filipino franchises struck deals with interested groups during the Melbourne expo. These included Avocadoria, Bench, Cabalen, Miguelitos Ice Cream, Oryspa and Shawarma Shack.

“Some of the brands we’ve brought are not even mainstream,” Quintana said in a briefing during the two-day International Franchise Forum held on Sept. 2 to 3, 2024 at the SMX Conventional Center Manila.

She said having Halal certification is a plus point for companies going abroad which is the case of Miguelitos International Corp. which recently secured its Halal certificate.

The food preparation company is going back to Australia for another business and trade expo.

PFA president Christopher Lim said it while it might take a while before commitments materialize, “we are hoping to see them built on brick and mortar, next year.”

The group and several established franchises are gearing up for market visits to Canada and Singapore in the coming weeks to further promote Philippine brands.

They are also set to participate in Fine Food Australia 2024 this week.

PFA called on the government to empower its smaller members to achieve global brand status by providing fiscal support for their trade promotion activities. Othel V. Campos
