The Clark Civil Aviation Complex (CCAC) is making significant strides toward becoming a global hub for logistics and aviation services, sustained by major investments from international companies like FedEx, UPS and Lufthansa Technik AG, according to the state-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
“We at the BCDA Group are excited to witness how these players will transform the landscape of Clark and transform it into a global logistics hub,” said BCDA president and chief executive Joshua Bingcang.
BCDA said that with a dedicated international airport and accessibility to Northern Luzon and Metro Manila via expressways, Clark is the perfect spot for air freight and aviation services.
Recent strategic partnership agreements with UPS and FedEx would significantly expand operations at Clark International Airport (CRK), boosting its capacity to handle express, supply chain and healthcare logistics services in the Asia-Pacific region.
Lufthansa Technik Philippines plans to invest P8 billion in a second hangar in Clark, building its reputation as a leading MRO hub.
BCDA said it is prioritizing the expansion of CRK’s airside facilities, including taxiways, aprons and access roads as part of the Luzon Economic Corridor initiative.
“In order to attract more investors and sustain the momentum for Clark, the BCDA is committed to delivering the necessary infrastructure and support to businesses. This expansion is only the first phase of our long-term development plan for CRK. In the future, we will also develop a second runway for the airport, among others,” Bingcang said.
