The Department of Trade and Industry Region 2 (DTI R2) Cagayan, in partnership with the Gonzaga local government unit (LGU), launched the Consumer Welfare Assistance Center (CWAC) at the Riverview Resort function hall. The initiative reinforces consumer protection efforts in the municipality.
The launch aligns with Municipal Ordinance No. 12, Series of 2023, which calls for the establishment of a price board, Timbangan ng Bayan, CWAC and the placement of price tags on all retail items within the Gonzaga public market.
“Indeed, the working partnership of the local executive and legislative in LGU Gonzaga is solid in terms of consumer protection, on which DTI gives a big salute,” said DTI R2 provincial director Henry Conel Jr. as he expressed his gratitude to the Gonzaga LGU for recognizing the importance of consumer protection policies.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas also participated in the event, with Tuguegarao area director Eva Marcos expressing gratitude for the collaboration and discussing the Paleng-QR Ph Plus initiative and its successes in other municipalities.
