D&L Industries Inc. (D&L) said Wednesday it expects its newly-opened manufacturing plant in Batangas province to break even ahead of schedule on the back of steady and consistent ramp-up in operations.
D&L president and chief executive Alvin Lao said the Batangas plant, which opened in the third quarter of 2023, almost broke even in the first quarter of the year.
“While it is still early to say, the Batangas plant has already shown remarkable progress with respect to the ramp-up of its operations, as well as in surpassing its initial commitments with PEZA [Philippine Export Zone Authority]. With the current run rate, it is possible that we may see break even sooner-than-expected,” said Lao. “Meanwhile, we continue to closely watch macro factors which can potentially dampen business sentiment such as the lingering effects of inflation, depreciating peso, and even the excessive heat that may impact consumer spending patterns,” Lao said.
