The World Bank agreed to support the Philippine government’s “Build Better More” programs and provide advisory works on several public-private partnership (PPP) projects, according to Finance Secretary Ralph Recto following his meeting with World Bank Group (WBG) President Ajay Banga on April 17, 2024.
Banga lauded the Philippines for being a strong partner of the bank and for doing the most of its country partnership framework in the region to drive real action and tangible outcomes. He pledged to assemble a dedicated team to conduct a workshop and assist the Department of Finance (DOF) in enhancing its digital infrastructure to improve tax collection efficiency.
Banga said he is also keen on promoting entrepreneurial opportunities for young people in the country. He also offered assistance in the agriculture sector to improve productivity and ensure food security.
