His expertise spans finance and management, corporate planning, business development, project management and strategic investments as well as proficiency in the power sector, demonstrating a comprehensive skill set essential for steering the organization towards its new era of growth and transformation.

Leveraging his extensive industry knowledge and visionary leadership, Alcantara is committed to bringing Alsons Power to new heights by leading the group’s expansion strategies, enhancing and diversifying its power portfolio, and strengthening relationships with its stakeholders.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Alsons Power Group. Our group is more than just a business; we are a steadfast partner to Mindanao, dedicated to fostering environmental sustainability, uplifting local communities, and driving economic growth,” said Alcantara.

Alsons Power has a combined generating capacity of 468-megawatts (MW), illuminating over eight million lives across 14 cities and 11 provinces in Mindanao.

Its portfolio features four key power plants, including the 210-megawatt Sarangani Energy Corp. and the 55-MW Southern Philippines Power Corp. in Sarangani, the 103-MW Mapalad Power Corp. in Iligan and the 100-MW Western Mindanao Power Corp. in Zamboanga City.

The group said it is preparing for the commercial operations of its 14.5-MW hydroelectric plant in Maasim, Sarangani as it diversifies its energy resources.

The Alcantara-led group also has other renewable energy (RE) projects that are in various stages of development.

These include a 37.8-MW hybrid hydro and solar project in Zamboanga del Norte, a 42-MW run-of-river hydropower project in Negros Occidental. It also entered the Visayas energy market with a 95.2-MW baseload backup power project in Ubay, Bohol.

“Our mission at Alsons Power is to provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy that prioritizes our environment, communities, and economies. Committed to our brand promise, We Power with Care, and backed by a passionate and dedicated team, I look forward to reaching new heights and achieving significant milestones as we continue to expand our footprint, forge new partnerships, and deliver quality services,” Alcantra said.
