DoubleDragon Corp. said Monday it expects daily foot traffic in its Divisoria Mall to exceed 200,000, once the proposed North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project is completed.

DoubleDragon said in a disclosure to the stock exchange the daily foot traffic in Dragon8 Mall recently hit a three-year high of 67,136 at the onset of holiday season.

The figure is expected to further increase in the coming days as the holiday rush continues to build up, it said.

The six-story Dragon8 Mall is located at the corners of Recto Ave. and Dagupan St. in Divisoria. It houses 405 operating retail and food tenants.

It also has a foot bridge that will connect the Malolos-Tutuban railway portion of the project to the third floor of the mall.

The Tutuban Manila to Malolos Bulacan rail project, which is expected to be completed next year, is part of the 163-kilometer NSCR urban rail transit system from Calamba, Laguna to Clark in Central Luzon.

The 38-kilometer Malolos-Tutuban segment is expected to carry more than 200,000 commuters daily.

Once the project is completed, the travel time from Malolos to Tutuban will be reduced to 35 minutes.

“The upcoming completion of the initial 38-kilometer Malolos-Tutuban rail project, to be followed by the completion of the whole 163 kilometers NSCR urban rail transit project is expected to become a major catalyst in further liven up the economic activity in Divisoria Manila area,” DoubleDragon said.

“Dragon8 Mall-Divisoria happens to be situated strategically and while many of the commercial complex in the area sits on a leased land, DoubleDragon’s 6-story prime commercial land where Dragon8 Mall sits is on its titled land covering the prime corner street in the heart of Divisoria Manila,” it said.

The mall is part of DoubleDragon’s 1.3 million square meters of gross leasable area.
