Located at Ongpin Street in the heart of Binondo, Cafe Mezzanine, dubbed as “The Fireman’s Coffee Shop”, offers more than just a satisfying meal; it’s a place where food lovers and community supporters come together for a good cause.

March is a month dedicated to Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines, and it holds a special significance for the cafe. It serves as a reminder of the critical role fire brigades play in protecting communities, and Cafe Mezzanine contributes to this cause in a very meaningful way.

The cafe generously dedicates its proceeds to support the local fire volunteer brigades, namely TXTFire Philippines Inc. and Binondo Paco Volunteer Fire Search and Rescue Brigade, helping to equip them with the resources needed to prevent and respond to fires.

Situated on the second level of the same building as Chuan Kee, Cafe Mezzanine is part of a family-owned culinary legacy in Binondo. The Chua family also owns other notable food businesses in the area, including the iconic Eng Bee Tin, Mr. Ube, and The Great Buddha Cafe, all of which have become staples of Binondo’s food scene.

Cafe Mezzanine’s menu features popular Filipino-Chinese dishes loved by both locals and tourists.

From traditional dim sum to comforting rice dishes, Cafe Mezzanine offers a wide variety of meals. Some favorites include asado with adobo egg, kiampong, lechon kawali, special kikiam, fish ball soup, pork maki, patatim, beef maki, and spareribs soup.

Main entrees range from boneless bangus and chopsuey to grilled pork chop, beef tenderloin, and braised beef rice.

The cafe also serves a selection of special soups like soup no. 5, duck soup and black chicken soup. Noodle dishes include beef wanton, seafood chami, pork asado, and miki bihon.

For group dining, the family platters are a great choice, with dishes like lechon macau, sweet and sour pork, crispy chicken, pancit canton, and yangchow fried rice.

To quench your thirst, the cafe offers healthy juices and shakes, including carrot juice, buko shake, and the signature fireman shake.

One can also choose from a variety of hot and cold coffees, such as mezza blend and iced mocha java, or non-coffee options like green tea, jasmine tea, and soya milk.

For dessert, enjoy halo-halo, iced banana, or mais con yelo.

Beyond its cozy ambiance and delectable menu, Cafe Mezzanine’s most admirable quality is its commitment to the community.

The fire volunteer brigade is an integral part of community’s safety, and by dining at Cafe Mezzanine, patrons play an active role in ensuring the brigade remains well-equipped.

The initiative reflects the cafe’s deep-rooted values and its dedication to serving the local community.
