The St. Jude Catholic School Alumni Association (SJCSAA) held a fundraiser on Dec. 7, 2024, with a special block performance of Going Home to Christmas: A Jose Mari Chan Musical at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium (RCBC Theater) in Makati City.
The musical featured the beloved holiday songs of Filipino-Chinese singer, songwriter and businessman Jose Mari Chan, performed by the renowned Repertory Philippines theater company.
It was set in a busy airport during the Christmas travel season, weaves together stories of families, OFWs and airline workers, all facing the typical travel challenges of baggage, delays and surprises.
Iconic Jose Mari Chan songs such as “Christmas in Our Hearts” and “Love at 30,000 Feet” added to the festive and heartwarming atmosphere.
The leadership of St. Jude Catholic School, represented by Fr. Rolando Aquino, Bro. Yosep Undung, Fr. Antonio Wang, Fr. Crispin Cordero and Fr. Paulion Belamide were present to support the initiative.
SJCSAA president Charles Kohchet-Chua welcomed attendees and thanked them for their support of the association’s fundraising efforts.
Chua also thanked several association officers, including past presidents Gerry Lim, Liza Yao-Bate, Glenn Yu and Stephen Yu as well as other key members including Jocelyn Tiu, Valencia Keh-Wong, Johann Tan, Stephen Sy, Victor Cua, Philip Te, Jonathan Chu, Alexander Yu and Grant Cheng for their support and efforts in making the event a success.
He acknowledged the SJCSAA board of trustees’ core group including immediate past president Stella Maleen Chua-Sia, board members Nanette Ongcarranceja, Jehan Li, Joan Lim-Chung and Millie Ko-Lim for their dedication and hard work in organizing and promoting the fundraising activity.
Several junior and senior high school students also took time off from their academic and co-curricular activities to enjoy the show.
Repertory Philippines producer Pat Gregorio announced that the musical would run until Dec. 15, 2024 for the general public. Julie Ann Lope
