Paco Filipino-Chinese Chamber inducts new officers

The Paco Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 76th founding anniversary and induction ceremony at Century Seafood Restaurant on Oct. 15, 2024.

Honorary president Lin Wen Shu highlighted the chamber’s ongoing initiatives, which include an annual medical mission, Christmas gift bag distribution and a scholarship program supporting ten students from the Paco Citizen Academy Foundation with financial assistance of P20,000 each.

Newly-elected president Li Jun Xiong expressed commitment to collaborating with former leaders to enhance the chamber’s charitable efforts.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto, along with city administrator Bernardito Ang, Manila Chinatown Development Council (MCDC) chairman Willord Chua, councilors Boy and Bel Isip, councilor Mon Yupangco and Department of Energy (DOE) undersecretary Astravel Pimentel-Naik attended the ceremony.

They recognized the chamber’s vital role in promoting economic development and fostering inclusivity.

“Through your efforts, you have fostered economic progress, strengthened partnerships, and promoted mutual cooperation between the Filipino and Chinese communities.” Lacuna said.

“The city government of Manila remains steadfast in its support to your programs and initiative,” she said.

Guest speaker Lu Zu Yin, chairman of the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association Inc., congratulated the newly-inducted officers and emphasized the importance of the Filipino-Chinese community in promoting friendship and understanding, especially during challenging times in Philippine-China relations.

Founded in 1948, the Paco Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce has a long-standing tradition of supporting the Filipino mainstream society through various philanthropic activities.
