The Chinese Filipino Business Club Inc. (CFBCI) teamed up with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR), Quezon City Climate Change Adaptation Division and Parks Development and Administration Department (PDAD) conducted a tree-planting activity on June 16, 2024 at the La Mesa Watershed in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Officers, members and college scholars of CFBCI participated in the event and collectively planted 1,200 trees.

“The tree-planting project aligns with Republic Act 10176 Section 8, which mandates all Filipinos of at least 12 years of age to plant a tree every year. By actively participating in this initiative, CFBCI and its partners contribute to fostering positive change for current and future generations.” the club said.

The collaborative effort highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and demonstrated the impact of public-private partnerships in addressing environmental challenges.

The La Mesa Watershed is a protected area that contains the last remaining rainforest of its size in Metro Manila surrounding the La Mesa Dam and its reservoir.

The area is supervised by the DENR and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System.
