The town of San Rafael in Bulacan broke a Guinness World Record, surpassing a Canadian milestone set in 2015, for the “largest gathering of people dressed as angels.”
More than 2,000 participants, clad in white robes and shimmering wings, gathered at Victory Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 14, to secure the record.
San Rafael Mayor Mark Cholo Violago announced the achievement through the town’s official Facebook page, expressing gratitude to the residents and supporters who made it possible.
“Nag-uumapaw po ang aking galak at pasasalamat sa mahigit 2,000 anghel na San Rafaeleños at sa lahat ng mga nakiisa sa kauna-unahang ‘Guinness World Records Attempt’ na ito sa kategoryang ‘Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Angels,’” Violago said.
Guinness World Records representative Kazuyoshi Kirimura confirmed the new record, declaring that San Rafael had surpassed the previous mark of 1,275 participants set in Winnipeg, Canada, on Dec. 1, 2015. The original record was organized by the Misericordia Health Center Foundation.
Kirimura presented the official Guinness World Records certificate to Mayor Violago.
