The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) will showcase Vessels, an exhibition by ceramic artist Aileen Viñas, exploring nature’s resilience in urban environments.
Inspired by her move to Manila, Viñas’ ceramic vessels depict plants growing in unexpected urban spaces, such as wall cracks and window ledges. The sculptures incorporate live plants, encouraging viewers to appreciate how even small touches of nature can transform their surroundings.
A collaborative installation, created with the help of Viñas’ partner Kaiser Denwin and her students, features local plant cuttings gathered from Paco, Manila. The exhibition will also offer a ceramic pot-making and planting workshop.
Vessels will be on view at the NCCA Gallery in Intramuros, Manila, until Dec. 31, 2024.
