The works of various figures from Philippine literature will be featured at the upcoming Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024, or the 76th Frankfurt Book Fair, in Frankfurt, Germany.
The fair will host several events, such as discussions, panel sessions, readings, and receptions featuring Filipino writers and authors. There will also be a Philippine reception where attendees can explore the country’s art, music, and literature, as well as connect with Filipino authors and creatives alongside their literary works.
Asian literature will also be showcased at the event’s Asia Stage, sponsored by Rex Education, the Frankfurter Buchmesse, and the National Book Development Board (NBDB), gathering people from the literary landscape of Asia for discussions about the market of literature and publishing on the continent, including topics like trends, bestsellers, and more.
The events showcasing the country’s local literature are in preparation for the Philippines’ participation in the fair next year as the Guest of Honor.
The Frankfurter Buchmesse serves as the oldest and largest book fair in the world. The 76th Frankfurt Book Fair will run from Oct. 16 to 20.
