The second batch of new seed growers from Region XII and BARMM eagerly took the fundamental training courses on Inbred Rice Seed Production and Seed Certification at the Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII) in San Felipe, Tantangan, South Cotabato.
The comprehensive training covered essential topics discussed by rice specialists and industry experts, who also demonstrated the Palay Check System, a dynamic rice crop management system presenting the fundamental technology and management practices as Key Checks.
Besides the Key Checks, industry experts provided insights into rice morphology, inbred rice seed production, seed sampling, and seed testing, among other topics.
The training went beyond theory with engaging activities, including actual seed sampling and testing and hands-on experience in field inspection and rouging.
