Navotas gives P3K grant to TB patients

The City Government of Navotas granted livelihood assistance to Navoteños who recovered from tuberculosis.

Some 191 patients have received P3,000 each after completing the 6-8 months treatment for TB. Another 116 are due to get their cash aid once processing has been completed.

“TB is deadly, but it can be cured. We want to encourage Navoteños who contracted TB to get themselves treated early and avoid spreading the disease to their family members and community,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“Though life-threatening, TB is not a death sentence. Patients who recover from it can continue with their lives. That’s why we also want to help jumpstart their livelihood endeavors,” he added.

Under City Ordinance No. 2020-05, Navotas allots P3 million yearly for the City TB Control Program.

Navoteños who experience symptoms of TB may go to the nearest barangay health center for free check-up and treatment.

Symptomatic patients who refuse to be screened or those who miss their dose of anti-TB medicines will get a home visit from city health and barangay staff.

Patients who have been treated and have recovered from the disease will get a National TB Program identification card and a Certificate of Treatment Completion, which they will then present to their barangay health center for the processing of their livelihood grants.
