CLARK FREEPORT—Yokohama Tire Philippines Incorporated had planted more than 44,000 trees of various species within the compound of its factory here since 2008, key officials said in a statement.
Dubbed as “Forever Forest”, the project is one of the YTPI banner environment programs for 13 years, said Angelina Casasola, YTPI vice president for Administration.
Casasola said YTPI planted 250 more tree seedlings in nearby Sitio Saw Mill, Barangay Sapang Bato, Angeles City. She said this was part of the company’s expansion of Forever Forest project.
YTPI President Tetsuya Nagao and Executive Vice President Kazutoshi Morimoto led the tree-planting activity in collaboration with the Angeles City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) headed by their Officer-in-Charge Archimedes Lazatin.
The project, Casasola said is in line with the Angeles City’s vision to develop the area into a Forest Park and to protect the Angeles watershed. “The tree planting activity was part of the Japanese tire manufacturing company’s 25th year anniversary celebration here in the Philippines.”
Casasola said the tree planting project is a long term, global initiative by YTPI’s parent company, the Yokohama Rubber Company, as part of its mandate of preserving the environment.
