Filipino-owned company Personal Collection Direct Selling, Inc. (PCDSI) has made good on its promise to help conserve the environment with the initial roll-out of its biodegradable packaging.
The switch is anchored on its A Green Life is a Great Life advocacy to sustainable living announced in June. The biodegradable packaging used for PCDSI’s flagship products Tuff TBC (toilet bowl cleanser) and sof & mmmmm….. fabric conditioner is expected to decompose in landfills within approximately five to 10 years, 100 times faster than the standard plastic bottle that could take up to 1,000 years to disintegrate.
According to PCDSI, the packaging can be reused and repurposed several times and does not alter the shelf-life properties of the products. “Moreover, it contributes to the creation of biogas, a potential source of sustainable energy that can be used to power vehicles, homes, and businesses.”
Despite the sizable increase in product cost because of the “massive investments in research and development and recalibration of existing packaging”, PCDSI Board of Directors chairman Willie “Jun” Evangelista, Jr. says the company has allotted a long-term major commitment to the cause.
Another component of the company’s awareness drive is PC Appre-sea-tion Day to support the well-being and preservation of marine life in Philippine waters. It spearheads a nationwide campaign to minimize, if not rid, our oceans of disposable plastic products.
Personal Collection’s sof & mmmmm….., available in four variants, is a concentrated fabric conditioner formulated with Perfumed Micro Crystals that remain in the fabric and gradually release the infused fragrance throughout the day, eliminating odors. It contains Fibersoft that prevents fabrics from stretching, fading, and wrinkling.
