Robots on sanitation duty

Businesses have deployed smart sanitation technologies to upgrade their COVID-19 cleaning and disinfection protocols. These robots take on the recurring tasks required in ensuring public’s health and safety while they are inside the establishments. They also reduce person-to-person interaction.

Part of SM Supermalls’ #SafeMallingAtSM campaign is the deployment of Santi, a sanitation robot that disinfects areas with VirusDOC, an FDA-approved disinfectant that is 100 percent hypoallergenic, non-toxic, and non-corrosive.

Santi diffuses the disinfectant it carries, which, according to earlier reports, can kill 99.9 percent of microorganisms within seconds. A friendly cleaning robot, Santi is equipped with an HD camera for face recognition and a microphone to greet customers.

Santi joins his “brother” SAM, the country’s first indoor smart robot, that first arrived in select SM Supermalls to help customers navigate their way inside. The robot brothers can be seen roaming around SM Megamall and SM Aura Premier, among other SM malls.

One of the world’s safest luxury hotels, as confirmed by the Forbes Travel Guide, Solaire Resort and Casino utilizes various sanitation technologies such as UVC light, UVC-equipped air conditioning system, Hygieia’s smart solutions, and Diversey’s TASKI Intellibot.

TASKI Intellibot is a hands-free cleaning robot with sensor technology that ensures proper navigation and allows it to clean without causing harm to people around it. It has four different cleaning modes that can clean up to 9,600 square meters “per shift”, and comes with two proprietary technology that reduce water and chemical use.

In keeping with its True Clean. True Safe. True Heart (3T) campaign, Okada Manila has invested in advanced cleaning equipment like Ben Ben. Ben Ben is a robot equipped with high-intensity UVC light “that purges the DNA of viruses and bacteria”.

The robot is harsh on microorganisms but friendly with guests as it is programmed to say a few words, provide special broadcasts, and give directions to key locations in the property. Joining Ben Ben, with a much more robotic name, is BJDG-XD100, a disinfection robot that eliminates bacteria and viruses by misting disinfectants.
