Five transportation groups expressed support to the Department of Transportation’s mandatory motor vehicle inspection by private centers to ensure the safety of commuters and motorists.
The transport groups said the DOTR should continue the Motor Vehicle Inspection System program for the safety of motorists and commuters.
“We believe this is a good program to ensure the safety of the drivers, operators, especially the commuting public,” the transport groups said.
Among these groups are the Liga ng Transportasyon at Operators sa Pilipinas Inc., Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines, Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines, Pasang Masda and Alliance and Concern Transport Operators Inc.
The groups said it is time to replace the old system involving private emission testing centers.
The DOTR earlier ordered the Land Transportation Office to temporary stop the mandatory implementation of MVIS amid issues raised by Sen. Grace Poe on complaints from motorists.
The Vehicle Inspection Center Operators Association of the Philippines said it appreciated the support expressed by the management of JoyRide PH to the mandatory implementation of the PMVIC Program.
“We are encouraged by the motorcycle taxi service provider’s trust and confidence in the comprehensive motor vehicle inspection service being conducted by our Centers,” VICOAP said.
“As a full-pledged participant to the Motorcycle Taxi Pilot Study, we commend JoyRide PH’s commitment to instill and ensure road safety as a crucial factor in its daily operations, to protect not only its riders but more importantly, its clients and the public,” it said.
