Jocelyn de Leon, one of the pillars of sports development at Far Eastern University, passed away due to cardiac arrest on Sunday morning.

De Leon, 62, well loved for her caring spirit for student athletes, was a long-time member of the Board of Managing Directors of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

She represented FEU in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines before retiring after 28 years of service in 2019.

FEU athletic director Mark Molina said De Leon has served the university for more than four decades.

The board feted De Leon two years ago when she retired for the legacy she left behind in the UAAP, which included upgrades on league rules during her term in the league.

“Siya ay isang nanay sa mga student-athletes namin. Lalu na sa mga kailangan nila sa dorm,” said basketball programs head Robert Flores.

School officials are helping out in the burial of De Leon, who was said to be COVID-19 positive at the time of her death.
