Television star Sanya Lopez is one of the busiest talents on GMA Network lot, and as she renews her contract with her mother studio, fans can expect more projects from her that will showcase her versatility as an actress.
“I still have a lot of roles to play and I look forward to working with a lot of stars here in GMA including the new artists who transferred here,” Sanya told Manila Standard Entertainment in a virtual interview.
There’s no question about Sanya’s passion and dedication for her craft. The star, who turned 25 on Aug. 9, is now a household name through her notable roles in various projects including the most recent hit ‘First Yaya’ where she won the hearts of Filipino viewers as the adorable Yaya Melody.
“I feel honored to play that role and it’s really interesting that people sometimes call me Yaya Melody instead of my real name. It means so much to me experiencing that because it means I was effective in portraying the role,” the dusky TV darling stated.
Portraying varied roles on the boob tube motivates Sanya to do more and consider tackling unconventional characters. In fact, playing a lesbian role and a superhero character are her dream projects.
“Personally, I really wanted to do a superhero character. I wanted to feel how it’s like when the entire world depends on you,” she said in jest.
“I want to explore lesbian roles. I did one before but I want to explore more of that character. I think it’s very challenging,” Sanya added citing Solenn Heussaff as the actress she wants to share the screen with in case she would receive an offer to play such character.
Meanwhile, when Sanya renewed her contract with GMA she promised her fans and her home network that she will remain grounded and will continue to give her all in every project assigned to her.
“I promise to be the same Sanya who continuously tries to entertain those people who support me. Sa GMA naman, lagi kayong nakatatak dito sa puso ko dahil kayo ang nagbigay ng malaking break sa akin dito sa showbiz. Mahal na mahal ko kayo,” she ended.
