The City of Taguig on Wednesday launched its Bakuna Nights, a special project initiated by Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano, aiming to accommodate workers who are unable to visit vaccination sites during the regular office hours.
Cayetano said the city’s High Street Mega Vaccination Hub in Barangay Fort Bonifacio will be open for an evening schedule until midnight and they are planing to even expand this to a 24-hour operating hub for those belonging to the A4 category, or persons working outside their residences.
The event focused on several industries such as creative industries including artists and musicians working in cafes, restaurants and hotels, and self-employed artists.
The local government invited workers in the events and entertainment industry and restobar owners and workers, which according to Cayetano, are “all economic drivers in the city.”
“It also features live performances from local artists and performers in support of the informal entertainment sector whose livelihood was greatly affected by the pandemic,” said Cayetano.
The city government can administer 8,000 jabs of vaccines throughout the city’s vaccination hubs daily.
“With the addition of Bakuna Nights, more and more city residents and workers will be accommodated especially those unable to visit out vaccination sites during office hours,” the city chief executive said.
The local government recently vaccinated around 100 employees of Shopee Philippines at the SM Aura Mega Vaccination Hub.
Employees including human resources personnel, senior analysts, and administrative officers received their first jabs.
“In the time of the pandemic, we should get our vaccines for your own safety and to be considerate to those people who have yet to receive their vaccines para di na kumalat pa yung virus,” said Cays Bagtas, HR Representative from Shopee Philippines.
Delivery riders and employees from food panda, an online food and grocery delivery platform in the city, also got their first jab at Vista Mall Mega Vaccination Hub last Tuesday.
As of July 12, a total of 282,842 Taguig residents and workers across the A1-A5 categories have already been vaccinated against COVID-19.
