The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said on Friday it would resume its weekend road re-blocking and other repair works along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue and Circumferential Road -5 (C-5 Road).

The MMDA gave the Department of Public Works and Highways the go-signal to conduct the road works beginning late night of July 2 until Monday morning.

DPWH – National Capital Region director Eric Ayapana said the road rehabilitation will be carried out from 11 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday, July 5 along EDSA, covering the southbound direction of Biglang Awa Street, 2nd lane from sidewalk in Caloocan City.

Reblocking activities at C-5 Road, Quezon City will cover sections after Rosa Alvero, 2nd lane from center island; and before Rajah Matanda, 3rd lane from sidewalk.

“The DPWH – NCR secured prior clearance and coordination with the MMDA in anticipation of expected traffic slowdown along areas covered by the weekend road repair,” said Ayapana.

The MMDA advised motorists to avoid those  areas and use alternate routes instead.

The government is implementing a policy prohibiting diggings and other road works at daytime to avoid blocking the flow of traffic in the metropolis.

It also required contractors to use quick dry cement on the road works to be able to meet the one-day curing period. Joel Zurbano
