Palace: Simple misstep; Rody has ‘no problem with his health’

President Rodrigo Duterte is healthy and well, Malacañang said Monday after the commander-in-chief lost his footing during the Independence Day program in Bulacan over the weekend.

“It was a simple misstep,” presidential spokesman Harry Roque said.

“It s clear in the video that the President was turning on a podium. He got a bit out of balance. There is no problem with his health,” the Palace official added.

The 76-year-old Duterte was assisted by Armed Forces chief Gen. Cirilito Sobejana during the wreath-laying ceremony before the monument of Gen. Gregorio del Pilar in Malolos town Saturday.

President Rodrigo Duterte appeared to lose balance during Saturday’s Independence Day program in Bulacan province because of a “simple misstep,” Malacañang said on Monday, as it again denied that the Chief Executive has a serious health problem.

In April, Duterte’s longtime aide, Sen. Christopher Go, released photos of the commander-in-chief jogging and riding a motorcycle to prove that he is doing well.

The President has several conditions, including Barrett’s esophagus and Buerger’s disease.
