The Philippine unit of Southeast Asia’s largest airline said it carried 168,527 passengers in the first three months, a 43-percent increase from the fourth quarter last year.

The higher number of passengers it carried resulted in an increase in load factor of 10 percentage points quarter-on-quarter to 74 percent.

A month-on-month breakdown showed that AirAsia Philippines grew its number of passengers by 57 percent, despite increasing 30 percent in operating capacity in March compared to February. This resulted in a commendable 81 percent load factor in March.

AirAsia Philippines said that on a year-on-year basis, passenger traffic was still 91 percent lower compared to 1.79 million passengers in the first quarter of 2020.
