Capas, Tarlac—Some P3.4 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu was seized from suspected illegal drugs traffickers following buy-bust operations at Barangay Sto. Domingo here over the weekend.
Five suspected members of the Bicutan-Capas Drug Group were arrested. They were identified as Romulo LA Unayan Jr.,27, of Bacoor, Cavite; Nasrudin Mumamayo Masulot, 30; Fahad Ibrahim Kasan, 35; Virgilio Martin Gutierrez, 27; and Corazon Midtimbang Sayadi, 37, from Lower Bicutan, Maharlika Village, Taguig City.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Wilkins Villanueva said the suspects were allegedly responsible for the distribution of shabu in Capas with the local contacts as dealers.
Villanueva said the suspects were placed under surveillance by PDEA and Tarlac Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit for their alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
On Thursday, one of the suspects negotiated the sale of 500 grams of shabu to a poseur buyer through an exchange of text messages.
The suspects agreed to meet the poseur buyer in one of the establishments at Bgy. Sto. Domingo 1st, where they handed a plastic bag of shabu to anti-narcotics agents, leading to their arrest.
The suspects were brought to PDEA regional headquarters for further investigation shortly after their arrest. Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. Jess Malabanan
