Reil Cervantes, a 6’4" standout, who played in the Philippine Basketball Association for six years, is bringing his act to the Camsur Express in the National Basketball League later this year.

At 34, Cervantes believes that his vast experience and leadership on the floor will help the team thrive in the coming season.

“Ang maitutulong ko sa mga player ay leadership. Dapat one-page kami at nagtutulungan,” said Cervantes in a team presentation on Zoom yesterday.

Cervantes last saw action with the Pampanga Giant Lanterns in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League last year.

He found an opportunity to play basketball again after he quit the Giant Lanterns when team officials invited him to join the team practices.

During his time in the PBA from 2011 to 2017, Cervantes averaged 9.1 points and 3.1 rebounds.

This was after he played for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Barako Bulls, Kia Carnivals and Blackwater Elite.

Since retiring, Cervantes went to Virac, Catanduanes with his family.

In 2017, Cervantes played for the Westports Malaysia Dragons before coming back home to  join the Manila Stars in the 2018 and the Giant Lanterns the following year.

The Express, which joined in 2018 is coached by JP Dusuanco.
