Manila Water Co. Inc., the water concessionaire for the east zone of Metro Manila, held a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant in Mandaluyong City.
Manila Water tapped SUEZ, a leader in sustainable environmental services and Megawide Construction Corp. to design and build the sewage treatment plant which will have a daily capacity of 60,000 cubic meters.
This marks the first project of Megawide with Manila Water and its first collaboration with SUEZ.
The sewage treatment plant, which will treat wastewater in Mandaluyong City, will significantly enhance the health and sanitary conditions of more than 650,000 residents in the area.

SUEZ said it would apply its innovative MeteorTM Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor and GreendafTM technologies to help cut operating costs and installation space compared to conventional methods.
The plant will meet stringent national standards exceeding European Union requirements to reduce adverse impact on Manila Bay and Pasig River and environmental footprint. This MBBR plant will also be the biggest of its kind in the country.
