Globe Postpaid customers in the National Capital Region, Rizal, Cavite and Bulacan now have another option to enhance their mobile experience.
The company’s Voice over LTE or VoLTE is now fully activated in all cities and towns within Metro Manila and the three nearby provinces. VoLTE is the standard high-speed wireless communication for mobile phones using 4G LTE instead of the traditional voice networks being used by 2G and 3G.
“VoLTE is the better solution for customers who need voice connectivity indoors as this technology is superior to 2G/3G. By using this innovative technology, Globe Postpaid customers get better connectivity, clearer connection, faster and uninterrupted browsing even when they are inside their rooms, confined places in their homes or even in the office. VoLTE delivers a much better overall experience,” said Issa Guevarra-Cabreira, Globe’s Chief Commercial Officer.
Cabreira added that VoLTE has many advantages over the old voice services of 2G and 3G networks when it comes to voice capacity compared to 2G and 3G. With VoLTE, Globe can also accommodate more customers making calls at the same time without slowing call set-up, compromising voice quality and dropping those important calls during emergency situations.
VoLTE also gives users the ability to simultaneously connect to the Internet while on a call. This advantage comes in handy when playing online games or streaming videos.
Like VoLTE, customers can also have access to Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) or WiFi Calling, which helps address indoor mobile coverage woes such as voice calls affected by the distance between the mobile phone and the nearest network tower, building walls that block wireless signals, and poor signal inside a home or building depending on the quality of WiFi network they have. Customers can address these concerns by using their existing WiFi connections to make calls through VoWiFi.
Moreover, VoLTE and VoWiFi work like and charge as regular calls but customers who are registered to a Globe unli call promo can also have unli VoLTE and VoWiFi calls within the Globe network. Both services also work on any WiFi network.
Aside from NCR, Rizal, Cavite and Bulacan, Globe is also making VoLTE and VoWiFi available in strategic locations all over the country. As of last count, the company is targeting to make it available to postpaid customers in at least 1,538 towns and cities.

Globe’s aggressive and sustained network builds and upgrades are showing enhanced overall customer data experience as the telco emerged as the most improved in mobile average download speed across all technologies to 16.44 Mbps in Q4 2020 from 13.50 Mbps in Q4 2019, a 22% improvement according to Ookla data.
Globe has laid out a 3-pronged strategy for its network upgrades and expansion which includes aggressive cell site builds, upgrading its cell sites to 4G/LTE using many different frequencies, and fast tracking the fiberization of Filipino homes nationwide.
