Community library lets readers take a book for free

With a goal to raise a community of readers and givers, a community library recently opened inside a mall in Taguig.

The Book Nook, located on the fourth level of SM Aura Premier, is open to all readers who want to discover more than 1,000 written treasures waiting on its shelves. Reading benches are available for those eager to dive into their chosen book.

Should the reader desire to take the book home, they simply need to ask if the title is available for free. A number of books can be taken home, so long as the reader “pays it forward” by donating a book of their own.

Readers are also encouraged to share their favorite stories with someone else by leaving a note in their pre-loved treasure.

To ensure safety of all, the Book Nook implements contactless systems like contact tracing via the SM Supermalls Trace Together and QR code-based registration system for logging books that are donated and taken from the library. A UV light box is also available to sanitize all borrowed and donated books.
