Sunshine Place is opening a four-session Watercolor Masterclass Series titled Advanced Scapes Painting, with Jen Consumido as instructor.
The workshop will run every Wednesday from today until June 3, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is open to both beginners and experienced watercolorists.
The masterclass offers a structured approach to painting scapes—including landscapes, seascapes, and waterscapes—with participants working on a single artwork throughout the course. They will be guided through key techniques as they develop a subject of their choice.
In the first session, participants will work on paper preparation and foundational planning, including thumbnail sketches from photo references to establish composition. A tonal study will follow to define light, shadow, and depth, leading to a final drawing on prepared watercolor paper.
The second session will focus on the painting process, including sequencing from background to middle ground and establishing color relationships. The third session will continue the work with guided feedback to refine the piece.
By the fourth session, participants are expected to complete their artwork, focusing on final details, cohesion, and finishing touches.
The workshop is designed for those looking to build or strengthen their watercolor practice while completing a finished scape painting under guidance.
