Kristoffer “Topy” Rustia and Micah Cura on Friday took their love for each other to greater heights—approximately 30,000 feet above sea level.
The couple, whose paths crossed during their training in Malaysia to become cabin crew, said their “I do’s” on AirAsia flight Z2 225 bound for Caticlan. It was, they said, a dream come true for both of them whose love for each other grew stronger up in the air.
“It’s one thing to get married, it’s another to fulfill that dream in a place where we started our journey together—inside the aircraft,” shared Cura, who said her vows in front of fellow passengers composed of family and friends.
“As crazy as it may seem, I envisioned Micah walking down the aisle in one of our flights wearing her lovely gown, not her cabin crew uniform,” enthused Rustia, adding, “It seemed like it would be impossible, knowing that we work as flight attendants but AirAsia made it happen.”
Rustia surprised Cura with a proposal in December 2020, about a year after they welcomed their baby girl. When the two shared their plans to get married with their employer, their Allstar colleagues worked together to make their dream come true.
To make its first wedding onboard a commercial flight a success, the airline took care of the necessary preparations, security, and risk assessment to ensure health and safety protocols were observed during the flight.
“Congratulations to our newlyweds! Dreaming big and making it happen, this is what AirAsia is all about. We hope that your story inspires people to never give up on spreading love,” said AirAsia spokesperson Steve Dailisan.
Despite the uncertainties and challenges the pandemic has brought to the airline industry, the newlyweds are both hopeful for the future.
“Our prayer is that we are able to inspire people to just hang on and never lose hope because there are still many things to be thankful for, despite the many challenges brought by the pandemic,” shared Cura.
Rustia added, “We are always reminded of our love for each other, and a promise of a brighter future for our daughter.”
When their plane landed after the ceremony, the couple and their families enjoyed an early dinner reception at The Lind Boracay where the two will spend their honeymoon.
