Red Cross commends NAIA virus response

The Philippine Red Cross has recognized the Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport as the government agency with the most distinguished COVID-19 pandemic response.

The commendation was made during the PRC Year-End Donor Recognition 2020 last Dec. 15. Also recognized during the zoom conference hosted by PRC were other partners, donors and volunteers.

PRC chairman Senator Richard Gordon personally thanked the Port of NAIA for the support it extended through prompt and expeditious facilitation of its COVID-19 related shipments needed by the country to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.

“Port of NAIA is greatly honored to receive the recognition and award from the Philippine Red Cross, and manifests the unwavering commitment of the men and women of the port to work beyond the call of duty and stay dedicated in providing government service to the public,” said Port of NAIA District Collector Carmelita Talusan.

The Customs NAIA had processed and released a total of 9,522 shipments of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies since March 2020.

In October, the Customs bureau also built a medical facility to serve its employees, especially the frontline workers assigned at the airport.
