PH bet crowned Miss Eco Teen International

The Philippines’ Roberta Angela Tamondong edged out 34 other contestants from around the world to win the Miss Eco Teen International 2020 crown.

The finals, held on Sunday morning in Hurghada, a famous scuba-diving resort on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, also witnessed South Africa and the Netherlands finishing first and second runners-up, respectively, while Egypt was third and Paraguay fourth.

The Miss Eco Teen International pageant is the teen version of the Miss Eco International pageant won by the Philippines’ Cynthia Thomalla in 2018 and aims to empower the youth, create self-awareness and make an impact all under an environmental theme.

As the winner, Tamondong will serve as the voice representing teenagers worldwide while promoting environmental responsibility.

The 18-year-old, 5-foot-9 Tamondong also bagged the Best Eco Dress award for her multi-colored modern Filipiniana dress made of recycled plastic bags, rice sacks and plastic beads. She was named second in the Miss Beach competition and third in the Talent Competition for her "Luzviminda" dance.

Tamondong, a student of San Beda University, was appointed by the Miss World Philippines organization on Nov. 18 to represent the Philippines, succeeding 2019’s Mary Daena Zaide.

Previous to her international pageant, Tamondong reigned as Miss San Beda 2020, Bb. Quezon City 2019, CatWalk Philippines 2019, Mutya ng San Pablo 2019 and was the first runner-up in the Miss Bikini Philippines 2019.

Believing in her favorite motto "Be confident in showing off who you are," Tamondong has always dreamt of becoming a Victoria’s Secret Model.
