Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Thursday said the city “is recovering well” from the onslaught of typhoon “Ulysses.”

“All barangay chairpersons were prepared. They followed preemptive evacuation,” she told the media in an interview.

“There was forced evacuations when (tropical cyclone wind) signal no. 3 was raised. The people already knew that there was a need to evacuate. They were already at the evacuation centers that night,” Belmonte said.

She said there was enough time for preparations and evacuations before “Ulysses” battered Metro Manila on Wednesday night.

The Quezon City government posted in its official Facebook page that there were 8,286 individuals, comprised of 2,467 families who had been evacuated.

At least 31 barangays had been affected by typhoon “Ulysses.” The city has 44 evacuation centers.
