In support of the Department of Education’s Learning Continuity Plan, Smart Communications, Inc. announced that resource materials under the CVIF-Dynamic Learning Program can now be downloaded for free from DepEd Commons at www.commons.deped.gov.ph.
The ready-to-use Junior and Senior High School Learning Activity Sheets developed by the Central Visayan Institute Foundation were made available in time for the October 5 official opening of classes in public schools nationwide. Supported by Smart and PLDT-Smart Foundation for over a decade, CVIF-DLP is one of only three supplemental learning materials being endorsed by the DepEd for this school year.
CVIF-DLP is a crisis-resilient independent learning strategy aimed to ensure that the teaching-learning process continues despite the pandemic while improving students’ academic performance especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It was first implemented in 2002 at CVIF in Jagna, Bohol by world-renowned Theoretical Physicists and Ramon Magsaysay awardees for education, Dr. Christopher Bernido, and Dr. Ma. Victoria Carpio-Bernido. The education program works in all primary and secondary academic levels, as well as in the Alternative Learning System (ALS), and targets the entire spectrum of learners, including Special Education students.
During DepEd’s School Opening Day National Program and World Teachers Day celebration led by Education Secretary Leonor Briones, Smart AVP for Community Partnerships Stephanie V. Orlino shared the role of the CVIF-DLP in distance learning of students, particularly how its Learning Activity Sheets are aligned with DepEd's Most Essential Learning Competencies.
"We have been conducting CVIF-DLP virtual workshops for DepEd Divisions nationwide since July and will continuously support this sector to ensure that there will be #NoLearnerLeftBehind in education's new normal," Orlino says.
Continuing Smart’s and PSF’s support for the CVIF-DLP is part of a much broader program of PLDT, the Philippines largest and only integrated telco, to assist the education sector as it overcomes the challenges posed by the pandemic. The innovative teaching pedagogy fosters the highest level of creativity and productivity, while its systems-based scientific approach for enhanced independent learning is crucial in today's highly digital time.
PLDT and Smart recognize quality education as a foundation in improving people's lives and obtaining sustainable development. In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), particularly SDG #4: Quality Education, education continues to be a flagship CSR program throughout PLDT Group, with a strong emphasis on digital literacy.
