Angeles provides free internet access to learners

Angeles City—Technical men and women of Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. the leading internet provider in Central Luzon, have initially installed seven internet access points in different sites here as the Department of Education officially opened its digital and modular classes for school year 2020-2021.

A total 772 satellite units are being installed around the city to provide free internet service for Angeleños. The project cost P20 million.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin assured learners of reliable connectivity so as not to disrupt their study.

He said internet provider was conducting a thorough check on the technical side to make sure that free wi-fi program would smoothly operate in time for the opening of classes for digital distance learning.

Among areas in the city where internet access points are operating include  Northville community at Barangay Cutud, and 3 active access points at Bgy Pulung Cacutud.

To ensure that fast and reliable internet access will be provided to students and teachers, Lazatin said the city government would also issue internet access cards for them.

He emphazised the importance of prioritizing the teachers and students’ internet service and avoid disruption of online classes due to fluctuating internet connection. 

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas said the city government initially planned to just provide internet access for students and teachers, but eventually decided on giving free wi-fi to all residents in the city.

Calaguas also mentioned the guidelines and procedure on how residents can avail themselves of the city’s free wi-fi service.

Each resident will be connected for 30 minutes per log in. After that, they can repeat the same procedure if they want to use the free wi-fi longer.

Calaguas added the city’s free wi-fi project is made possible thru their partnership Pil-Chi Telecoms, Inc. and local provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc.
