‘BGC-Ortigas project almost complete’

The Department of Public Works and Highways said that the Sta. Monica-Lawton Main Bridge,  which is a major component of the BGC-Ortigas Road Link Project, is almost complete and will be open to traffic on the first quarter of 2021.

“We have completed the final pouring activities at the mid span. The 210-meter main superstructure that will connect across Pasig River the Lawton Avenue in Makati City and Sta. Monica Street in Pasig City is already completed”, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said.

“The BGC Ortigas Link Bridge Project is only one of 22 projects aimed at decongesting EDSA and C5. The year 2021 will be a game changer,” Villar said.

The bridge which is part of the EDSA Decongestion program will also include a bicycle lane.

“This is the first walk through from BGC to Ortigas. We are confident that we will finish the entire structure by the first quarter of 2021,” Villar noted.

The project, under the Build, Build, Build program, will cut to 12 minutes the one-hour-long drive between the Bonifacio Global City and Ortigas business districts.
