Malaysia gov’t issues ban vs PH travellers – PAL

Philippine Airlines on Tuesday reminded the public that Malaysian authorities has issued a new advisory restricting Filipinos from travelling to their country to further prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.

The PAL management said effective Sept. 7, all non-Malaysian travelers from the Philippines are prohibited.

The restriction, which was decided due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, also covers those with long term pass holders, permanent resident status, Malaysia My Second Home Pass holders, expatriates and professional visit pass holders; foreign students and spousal visa holders.

Exemptions from the restrictions may be considered for the following: (1) Diplomats and their dependents who are eligible under the Exemption Order. Diplomats and Embassy staff who do not have required passes, such as those entering Malaysia for the first time, are required to obtain approval from the Director General of the Immigration Department through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to travelling; (2) professional crew/workers in the oil and gas industry with existing passes, and seafarers (signing on or joining ship in Kuala Lumpur).
