Health experts urge parents now more than ever to feed their families healthy food items that help strengthen the immune system.
Dr. Celeste Gomez, from The Medical City Pediatrics and the Institute of Functional Medicine, highlighted during a virtual press conference the importance of choosing an organic lifestyle to protect the family from infectious diseases.
She said that shifting into organic food was not as hard as one might think. Essential food like vegetables and fruits can be considered organic if they have no GMO, synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, chemical additives, or sewage sludge. Meat, dairy, poultry, and fish products without the aforementioned can also be considered organic.
The pediatrician added that parents can start introducing organic food choices to their kids through their milk.
Wyeth Nutrition, for instance, has been promoting its organic formula milk since 2018 and its benefits to the children’s brain and body development.
“Promil Organic follows strict compliance of the 95 percent processing level and international standards of the IFOAM Organics International. It is also certified organic by the OCCP (Organic Certification Center of the Philippines),” said Maria Carmela Gabunada, associate marketing director of Wyeth Nutrition.
The organic formula milk comes with key nutrients DHA, AA, iron, iodine, and vitamin B12 to help the child’s mental and visual development; vitamins A and C to boost immunity; calcium, vitamins D and K, and zinc to promote proper growth; and dietary fiber (oligofructose) to improve digestive health.
