Camp Olivas, Pampanga—Only 150 civilian recruits, out of more than a thousand applicants, have successfully hurdled the rigorous physical tests required by the Police Regional Office 3 for plebes before taking their oath of office as a regular member of the Philippine National Police in Central Luzon.
The neophytes, all holders of baccalaureate degree aside from civil service and National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) eligibilities, will undergo one year training at the Regional Training school 3 (RTS3) in Barangay Sto. Nino, Magalang, Pampanga.
This year’s quota, according to the PRO3 Public Information Office, is composed of 127 male and 23 females. They automatically earned the rank of patrolmen and patrolwomen while on training and will be receiving the basic salary of a policeman.
“Now that your are already part of the institution, you should be sincere about it. You will be receiving fat checks. The expectations in terms of public service from you is higher especially when it comes to discipline,” warned Police BGen. Rhodel O Sermonia during the formal oath-taking held in this regional police headquarters grounds.
Sermonia administered the oath of office for the newly appointed cops. He also led the send-off ceremony for the neophytes to their training school.
PBGen Rex M De La Rosa, PRO3 Deputy Regional Director for Administration, reiterated his earlier call to observe the highest form of discipline while undergoing training.
“It is the key to success of your career as law enforcers,” he said.
After the one year training, the recruits will be deployed to different police station for field duty or as on-the-job training. They will not be issued service handguns until the field duty is completed.
“Neophytes field duty will be evaluated and assessed by a senior police officer and supervisor before they are given an official assignments and designations,” the PRO3-PIO said in a statement.
