Clark Freeport—Officers of the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) were elated with reports that the RT-PCR tests of workers at the Yokohama Tire Philippines Incorporated (YTPI) have all yielded negative results for COVID-19.
This welcome development has given CDC executives, headed by President-CEO Noel F. Manankil, a sigh of relief, as the safety protocols being strictly imposed inside the Freeport have apparently proven effective against the spread of the deadly disease.
YTPI – a tire manufacturing company inside this Freeport – assured the public in their statement that 110 of their employees, as well as 52 contractual workers from Aresun, were immediately isolated and underwent swab testing, all testing negative for the disease.
Since the imposition of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine on March 15, CDC has been imposing strict safety protocols inside the Freeport, including the continuing education of workers on the importance of regular hand washing, using alcohol and hand sanitizers, wearing of regular face masks and shields, and social/physical distancing, among other safety and important measures.
Manankil also said that the Health and Sanitation Division of CDC is continuously monitoring all companies here for their compliance on health and safety protocols.
On July 4, 2020, one of YTPI’s contractual workers tested positive of Covid-19, prompting the tire firm to conduct immediate action, including the thorough disinfection and misting of the facilities and contact tracing with mandatory self-quarantine of all workers.
Workers who were in contact with the janitor of the service provider were isolated for 72 hours at the New Clark City (NCC), one of the “mega community quarantine” facilities located at Capas, Tarlac. The isolated workers were sent home three days after the swab test results yielded negative results.
The CDC-HSD also confirmed the test results from the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Hospital which facilitated the RT-PCR testing of the said employees.
YTPI has resumed operations following stricter safety protocols and improved countermeasures against COVID-19 to maintain a safe working environment for all employees here.
